Well,I finally finished off my mile-a-minute afghan! All that’s left is to weave in the ends, and I’m putting that off until next Monday before I take it to the crochet group. It’s going to Sistercare with a coupla others I have already made. This is the first time I designed my own MAM,and i think it turned out pretty well.

It consists of 12 strips, but can be made as wide as you like. It’s also done in a join-as-you-go technique. I don’t know how much yarn I used,as it’s all scraps (even the white) that I had in my stash. I used a size “H” hook. The directions are:
Chain 6 and join to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch3 (counts as your first dc now and throughout),work 2 dc,ch3,work 3 dc. Mark this row as right side.
Row 2-75: Ch 3,turn. In ch3 space of previous row work (3 dc,ch 3,3 dc),work a dc in top ch of ch3 in previous row. End off after row 75.
Border:
On first strip, attach white in beginning ring,ch 3 and work 8 dc in same space. Ch 1,skip first shell, *work 2 dc in next space formed by ch3 or dc,ch1. Repeat from * through last space on side.Work 9 dc in top ch3 space. Repeat from * down next side. Join to first ch3. End off.
On remaining strips: Attach white in beginning ring,ch3 and work 8 dc in same space. Hold two strips together with wrong sides facing and slip stitch into first ch 1 space. *Work 2 dc in next space formed by a ch3 or dc in new strip, slip stitch in ch 1 space of old strip. Repeat from * on side. Work 9 dc in top ch3 space. Ch1. **Work 2 dc in next space,ch1. Repeat from ** down side. Join to beginning ch 3. and end off.
Attatch all strips in this manner.
On another note, during the SnB this past Saturday,my dear friend Barbara introduced me to the “Brain Dead” afghan. It’s really simple, but cute at the same time, and I was looking for something mindless. I had just bought some great mill ends in turquoise, pink, and white to make another Sistercare blanket, and this afghna would be perfect! I got started then and there, and this is where I stopped Saturday night.

For some reason I was not getting the right size (off by 7 inches) and it kept pulling in on the sides. I just finished frogging it,and redoing the first row. Now it looks right! I guess the thing was off since I was at the group and having so much fun laughing and playing that I really didn’t pay attention to what I was doing. My count was waaaaay off apparently and so was my tension. The good part is,now I get more use out of the yarn! YAY!
Also at that meeting I was able to get Vicgtor started knitting. He is the 8 year old grandson of my Dear friend Cindi. She knits beautifully, but wanted Victor to learn Continental,so…He pickded it up pretty well, but i think he was a bit bored with it when he discovered that garter stitch is the same thing over and over again. He’s a veryt crafty young man,and I hope he stitcks with his knitting. he loves to make potholders an those looms, and Cindi as him crocheting,so…
Well, that’s it for today. I’ll be back later!! Oh,for those of you that wondered…my latest tattoo from my last post. This one hurt like F***K!! It’s 3 days later, and it’s still tender. But I did choose a tender spot on the body to get it. Bye fer noo!!
